Western Red Cedar, also known by its scientific name Thuja plicata is an evergreen coniferous tree native to western North America. The benefits of using Western Red Cedar is that it contains natural oils which make it naturally resistant to rot, decay and insect attacks. This low maintenance, sustainably harvested wood is a perfect choice for an outdoor deck or siding. It is light, easy to work with and accepts a wide range of finishes including paint, tint, varnish, oil or wax.
